Demonstration Areas

SECREF serves as a hands-on training site where professionals can see erosion, sediment, and turbidity control practices under field conditions. Workshops, field days, and demonstrations use the same infrastructure that supports research, allowing participants to connect technical concepts with installation, performance, and maintenance.

Rainfall, Runoff & Erosion

Demonstrations use rainfall simulation and field plots to show how soil condition, slope, cover, and management affect runoff and erosion.

Sediment & Turbidity Control

Field demonstrations show how sediment-control practices, basin features, baffles, flocculants, and treatment approaches influence sediment capture and turbidity reduction.

BMP Installation & Field Performance

Participants can observe installation and performance of practices such as wattles, inlet protection, slope stabilization, track-out controls, and other construction site BMPs.
